Sea Experience, an industry leader in diver education, will offer two seminars explaining how the evolution of dive travel, degrading coral reef ecosystems and shifting consumer trends demand a whole new way of training dive professionals. The seminars will detail an exciting new program called ECO PRO©, which was created specifically to address the need for a new approach to professional development. The seminars will be presented by Dr. Alex Brylske, President of Ocean Education International (OEI) as well as author and lead instructor for ECO PRO©.
“For over 30 years we have been training PADI Scuba Instructors here at the Bahia Mar Resort” says Bill Cole, Owner of Sea Experience. “We have tried to be on the cutting edge of the industry instructor needs ever since we introduced the ROS, Resort Operations Specialist,” says Cole. Giving the industry the highest trained staff was our paramount mission. “I feel that ECO PRO is the next big thing for instructor training moving forward,” says Cole. We are getting a larger number of employers requesting the skills that the ECO PRO program affords their new staff.
“Becoming a scuba instructor is certainly an important step in the career of any budding dive professional,” says Brylske. “However, given the way the dive industry is changing, and the pace of that change, this is no longer enough to prepare industry professionals for all the challenges they’ll face today in building a successful career. If our industry is to grow, we must create well-rounded professionals. But with its emphasis exclusively on dive training the traditional professional development process just doesn’t do the job. Hence, ECO PRO©. You can view the course, more or less, like an environmental IDC.”
ECO PRO© is integrated into the first seven days of Sea Experience’s renowned Resort Operator Specialist (ROS) program. The course is comprised of seven unique modules:Module #1: Deconstructing the Dive Industry Module #2: Merging Business and the Environment: A Guide to Marketing Sustainability Module #3: Coral Reef Ecology for Dive Professionals Module #4: Coral Reef Restoration: The Science and Practice Module #5: Sharks in Depth: Ecology, Conservation & Ecotourism Module #6: Environmental Interpretation: From Tourist to Advocate Module #7: Citizen Science for Divers: Programs & Marketing Opportunities
